Hajia Ramatu Mahama, former Second lady and wife of the late Vice President under the president Kufuor administration, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, has reportedly passed on after battling a short illness.
After being admitted to the Korle-bu teaching hospital on Monday, the former First Lady who chalked 70years passed on on Thursday. An entourage of the current vice president and some top government officials visited the former First Lady on Wednesday at the hospital, a day before her demise.
The family of the second lady is yet to inform the government of preparations for her final funeral rites which will be subjected to Islamic rites. The former second lady battled heart disease which broke the news of her death about a year ago. His son however debunked the rumors and stated that the mother was at a health center in London seeking medical care.
Madam Ramatu Mahama was an educationist who prioritized the educational welfare of young children and female students during her time as the second lady. As it is said that life is a journey, all we say is fare thee well Hajia and May you find eternal peace.
