The Speaker of Parliament for Ghana, Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin in a video has reacted to the interdiction and dismissal of former Ghana Football Association(GFA) President, Kwasi Nyantakyi.
According to him, the moment Anas Amereyaw Anas brought down Kwesi Nyantakyi was the end of Ghana football.
“When we were able to bring down Kwesi Nyantakyi, we also brought down Ghana Football”
In his submission, he said he once visited FIFA and presented himself as the speaker of parliament for Ghana. He was asked why Ghanaians did that to Nyantakyi. According to him, the staff of FIFA described Nyantakyi as dynamic. He was highly respected and the value he carried during their meeting was very influential.
“I met the Executives of FIFA, I said I was the speaker of Parliament for Ghana. They asked me, what happened? Why did you people do that’s? He was a dynamic addition. The value that he carried at their meetings, he was highly respected and very influential. Ghana’s football was up there. We thought we were only handling Nyantakyi, we didn’t know we were handling the whole of Ghana” he said.
He added that Senegal is up there because they have someone at FIFA fighting for them.
“Senegal is up there today because the security general of the whole FIFA is a beautiful young lady, and you can’t beat her during elections, and she’s the security general of FIFA” he added
Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin believes Ghana football started declining when ‘we brought down Nyantakyi’.
