The vice president of the Republic of Ghana and head of the economic management team, Dr .Mahamudu Bawumia has said he acknowledges that the country is going through hard times. The vice president addressed issues regarding the state of the country’s economy.
Addressing the audience at the National Tertiary Students Confederacy Training and Orientation (TESCON) conference, held at the Pentecost conventional center, the Vice President said in his opening statement “I acknowledge that we are going through challenging times”. He added that these tough times faced by the country are not peculiar to that of other economies.
Addressing the audience of youthful NPP members, the vice president alluded to the shambolic performance of the Ghanaian economy to the covid-19 pandemic and also the current tussle between Ukraine and Russia. The vice president maintained that before these two factors, the country was on a great path toward achieving economic liberty from the shambles of the Mahama administration.
Dr.Bawumia who is touted as the ‘digital man’ however failed to touch on the controversial e-levy. The E-levy has been passed however and it will be a tax on digital transactions.He continued to say that the hardships in the country is not beyond the government and he believes that very soon the story will change.
